Relationship breakdown

Our aim is to provide practical advice and clear guidance to assist in the resolution of difficulties and problems arising from the breakdown of a relationship whether it involves a married couple, a cohabiting couple or people who have entered into Civil Partnerships.

We can advise about the legal status of the relationship, about dissolution and upon the numerous issues which follow separation such as the arrangements for any children and the financial implications arising from the breakdown.

Our approach

We are fully aware that the relationship breakdown causes great distress and anxiety. Whilst we will always advise upon and protect a client's best interests at any given time, our aim is to provide a practical and common sense problem-solving approach so that matters can be dealt with in a conciliatory, practical and cost effective manner. Solicitor Chris Bowen is a member of Resolution whose 5,500 members are family lawyers committed to the constructive resolution of family disputes. Resolution members follow a Code of Practice which promotes a non-confrontational approach to family problems and members encourage solutions that consider the needs of the whole family - and in particular the best interests of children.

Collaborative Family Law

Solicitor Chris Bowen is also trained as a Collaborative Family Lawyer. The collaborative family law process is a relatively new way of dealing with family disputes outside the conventional court process. Collaborative lawyers work with you, your partner and your partner's Collaborative lawyer in a series of face to face negotiations, to help you resolve your family disputes. Find out more here

Entering into a new relationship?

We can also provide legal and practical advice if you are contemplating cohabitation or entering into any type of marital or civil relationship.

Such guidance often assists if things do not work out.
